Mission & Vision

We are passionate about what God has called us to do as a church.

Our core values summarize who we are:

"My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me."

Galatians 2:20 (NLT)

"Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ's body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other."

Romans 12:4-5 (NLT)

"Dear children, let's not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions."

1 John 3:18 (NLT)

Our mission defines what we do because of who we are in Christ.

After his resurrection in Matthew 28, Jesus commands his followers to “go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”  (Matthew 28:19-20)

It is our mission at Southern Hills to make disciples who make disciples.

We are committed to doing whatever it takes to make this a reality in each other’s lives as well as the world in which we live.

We GATHER together weekly as a large church family to be encouraged and challenged in how we live out our faith. With music, prayer, giving, communion, and teaching, our services remind us of who we are in Christ and to live out this truth by serving others in the name of Christ.

We GROUP together for the purpose of living out Biblical community. These small groups help us grow in our knowledge and understanding of God, provide a support system of other believers, point us to live for God instead of ourselves, and encourage us to “not get tired of doing what is good” (Galatians 6:9). Getting involved keeps you connected to the Body of Christ, the church.

  • [d]Groups are 3 to 5 people of the same gender gathering together weekly for the purpose of accelerated spiritual formation.

  • Connect Groups are affinity based groups. Connect with others who are in a similar stage of life or share a common interest.

  • Electives are short-term classes which meet at various times during the week for growth and community. Learn how God designed for us to live as you gather with others for study.

  • Life Groups are for people who share a common goal of growing in their walk with God, serving others, and being in Biblical community. These small groups exist to develop healthy relationships grounded in God’s Word—in an atmosphere of love and care—to draw others to Christ.

  • Care Groups are support groups for specific trials and suffering. Meet others who are going through similar trials and learn how to experience God’s peace in a safe place.

We GO by giving our time, abilities, resources and finances. There are opportunities to serve not only during our regular services times, but throughout the week as well. We also partner with local ministries, like the Pregnancy Resource Center and The Holy Spirit Shelter.
